Season changes

As anyone who lives in the southern hemisphere and is just slightly obsessed with pinning everything they see on pinterest, or spending hours of their procrastination time on youtube or any other form of social media would know, once it starts changing seasons it becomes some what of a difficult time. If like myself, you find yourself drawn into the realm of American 'beauty guru's' (for lack of better words) or the British youtube invasion you will realise that the seasons are just a tad bit topsy turvy.

I for one, live in a part of Australia that doesn't generally have that much of a winter, let alone any form of Autumn/Fall. For me, it usually stays warm for pretty much of all Autumn and only starts to get cold around mid July (which last about two or three weeks anyway, so not really the snowy white winter I have always dreamed of) and by the time August starts Mother Nature flips the switch and it's pretty much Spring time all over again.

Now, when you see a few too many things from the northern hemisphere (especially around the holiday season) I find the green eyed monster rearing its ugly head and eventually I develop full fledged season envy. The sight of all the Bath and Bodyworks candles, the 'sweaters', scarves and everything in between has me seeing green. Whilst I should be excited to about the upcoming scolding hot; too hot to even breathe; weather, I find myself lusting after the perfect chilly night on Halloween (which is completely B-grade in Australia) and drinking hot chocolates during a nice white Christmas day.

Mind you, it's really not THAT bad having Christmas in Summer, you get to go swimming, play in the sprinkler or like my family and I, get a giant piece of tarp, some dishwashing liquid and a hose and have a grand old time getting bruises and grass burns whilst flinging yourself onto a wet and slippery makeshift water slide.

Whether you live in the southern or northern hemisphere, let me know what is your favourite thing about about the holidays.

Blog re-launch

I have decided to get back into blogging after taking a break due to having no inspiration. I have been in such a rut the last few months that I have had no motivation to do anything, I ca't even shower without having to force myself to do it (as gross as that sounds).

With majority of the world heading into Autumn/Fall I can't help but be more inspired at this time of year, even though technically I live in Australia which is currently transitioning into spring and summer (my least favourite time of year). There is just so much to love about the cooler weather, from the fashion and cozy blankets to the looming holidays that instantly put me into a good mood.

I have promised myself to try harder to stick to writing more blog posts and putting more effort into taking better photos and not letting my depression and fear of not succeeding stop me from doing something that I have always wanted to do and that brings me so much joy.

OOTD

Since I haven't posted in a while I thought I would do a flatlay of what I wore today. One of my favourite posts are outfits of the day because they are the perfect way to get inspired about clothing and how to style what you have in your wardrobe.

This outfit is a simple transitional summer to autumn piece that is easy to wear for any casual/semi formal event.

  • Crop top and jeans are from Topshop
  • booties are from Famous Footwear
  • jacket is from Crossroads

#thoughts

With my huge European holiday slowly
Creeping closer and closer it has gotten me insanely excited (honestly
I feel sorry for people I work with). I have already started to plan outfits and we are still two months away, but you can never be to prepared for anything really, after all, we have all forgotten something important (pajamas, wallet, ID and money are just a few of my examples).

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and what would
You do?

Style Icon

Hello little bows,
Today I wanted to write about who inspires me the most when it comes to style and fashion. Anyone who knows me would already know that I have a very  unhealthy obsession with the lovely Miss Taylor Swift and everything she wears. From her copious amounts of oxfords (seriously, she must have as many oxfords as I have ants in my backyard), her statement red lip that no matter what, always looks flawless and freshly done, too most recently that Instagram picture of her wearing heals and standing on a rock surrounded by water.

One of my ALL time favourite swift outfits
Long legs aside, this outfit is something that any girl can wear no matter the body shape or height. Adjust the length and the neckline to what you find most flattering and you have a staple piece for any wardrobe. Nothing I love more than a cute and well fitted dress (plus I could never fault the use of a bright pink shoe when done right).

As a flats girl, I must say that it's very refreshing to
see Miss Swift out of her usual heel

That shoe though.

Three more perfect examples of why Taylor's immaculately dressed self is the envy of girls like myself. I mean, can we please talk about the shoes and the bags, a girl can never forget the bags. One thing I love is that she takes such simple pieces and pairs them i a way that look so classy and timeless.

I say four for you TayTay, you go TayTay.
Tell me in the comments who your style icons are.

Welcome

Hello and Welcome to Lilies and Bows,

This is a blog that I have started as a hobby (seems as though I am an introvert and this doesn't require much face to face human interaction). My plans for this blog is to post things that inspire me from fashion, make up, cooking, travel and anything else that gets my creative juices flowing. Fingers crossed that I can stick to posting and not give up as this is my third attempt at running a blog, but you know that they say, third time is the charm and I am a huge believer in superstitions so I have a really good feeling about it this time around.

To get things started I though I would do a little introduction/facts about myself:

  • I am a 20 year old female living along the sunny north coast of Australia
  • My biggest passion in life is fashion, primarily lingerie and shoes
  • My best friends is a nearly one year old Chihuahua called Skyler
  • I enjoy reading, music, animals of all sorts and long romantic walks along the beach (not really I hate the beach)
